Thoughts on Films and TV

I'd like to see Spiderman 3 when it is on DVD, think I can wait. Pirates 3 is two rambling stories condensed into one muddled screenplay, with characters changing sides every half-hour. Some nice performances, and some great scenery and scenes with ships, but a real let down. I'd avoid it. Saw on DVD Helen Mirren in The Queen, which was very good. Some good TV at moment, just finished Harry Enfield series which had good bits - the highlight had to be the Laurel and Hardy spoof on Brokeback Mountain, which was brilliant (even if rude). Andrew Marr is doing a very good modern Britain history (1945 onwards, post-war). Derren Brown has just finished ("Trick or Treat"). Amazing the stuff he does. A kind of psychological magic that makes one worried about how easily anyone can be manipulated! Doctor Who, of course, is on and wonderful.
