2011 Election for Deputy, Parish of St Martin.

I've just received a press announcement going to the general media from Deputy Bob Hill, which I have permission to publish here. Bob is standing again for Deputy in St Martin.

Bob is a man of great integrity and honesty, who has worked hard for his Parish and the Island, and I'm very pleased to see this announcement.

2011 Election for Deputy, Parish of St Martin.

I wish to announce that I shall be seeking re-election in St Martin.

Deputy Bob Hill is a long standing member of the States whose enthusiasm and commitment has not diminished and this is evident by his excellent States attendance record and work schedule. He has a reputation for keeping Ministers to account by asking penetrative questions. He regularly lodges propositions on a wide range of issues with a degree of success. These include the introduction of stamp duty on Share Transfer properties, the introduction of a States Suspension Policy which has led to fewer States employees being suspended and for shorter periods, the right for unmarried parents to have the choice of surname when registering the birth of their children, amendments to the Licensing Law whereby pubs may open all day on Sundays, the confiscation of alcohol from young people, the introduction of the Registered Doorman Scheme, the stabilisation of the rock face at Geoffrey's Leap, the Police Voluntary Visitor Scheme and many others.

Regards

Deputy  F. J. (Bob) Hill, BEM.,
Deputy of St Martin.

This is excellent news. I know Bob was undecided for personal and family reasons. The Cause will be much enhanced by this decision.

I wish him well.

Venceremos!
