On Autumn Sands

A walk on the beach prompted today's poem, which is largely a descriptive and mood piece.

On Autumn Sand

The beach is bare, only a few
Dogs and owners having fun
The sea dazzles, bright and blue
A last Autumn respite of sun

I see a solitary swimmer  in the sea
Braving the waves, the waters cold
At the café, last tourists having tea
Wet sands gleam like burnished gold

Waves wash gently over the sands
Old people sit, and watch from afar
Lovers on the shore, holdings hands
As they follow their own lodestar

Reflections on the Autumn sand
A gift for all to understand
