Egypt Bay

Egypt Bay is in Trinity, and the name may come from some kind of association with Gypsy (a corruption of the term), but I have been unable to find much about how it came by its name. I visited the bay last week with Katalin - it's more of a woodland valley and coastal path than bay - and wrote this poem.

Egypt Bay

Walking along the woodland track
As down we go to Egypt Bay
A green canopy, a sunbeam ray
Going there and coming back

Wolf’s Lair, but no wolf pack
An olden cottage, place of fey
Walking along the woodland track
As down we go to Egypt Bay

There also is a war time plaque
Of courage past, to travellers say
When they come down along this way
And coastal path, beside sea stack
Walking along the woodland track
As down we go to Egypt Bay
